Alfred Brownell, founder and executive director of Green Advocates, a Liberian NGO, will discuss his work as an environmental lawyer and activist fighting against the exploitation and destruction of Liberian tropical forests. Brownell is currently living in the United States in temporary exile for his work to prevent the clearing of 500,000 acres of forest. Brownell is a distinguished scholar and associate professor of Law at Northeastern University and a Visiting Human Rights Fellow at Yale Law School.
