Last year I built Boo Bear a cute little play kitchen out of scrap wood and other recycled items I could find and it turned out pretty good. At least BooBear seemed to think so and she still occasionally plays with it when her cousins come over.
I mentioned to a friend of mine the other day that most of the “new” things we buy are actually refurbished items because they are always cheaper and she seemed to be quite appalled. “I would never buy something that was refurbished,” she exclaimed. “All you’re doing is buying someone else’s junk!”
There’s nothing better on a nice weekend than slipping out to do a little fishing with one of the kids. You can’t get to my favourite spot by car, so we have to travel light. My fishing ensemble consists of two buckets with snap on lids. One is a large rectangular one that used to hold laundry soap and the second one is a smaller, rectangular one that used to hold dishwasher soap. The smaller one fits quite nicely into the other.
My sister is all worked up because she’s working on a blog about all the plastic bottles that are floating in our oceans. On the positive side, I’ve been noticing something new more and more so I decided to write a blog about it that would give us yet another use for all that plastic (besides the solar highways I wrote about before).
I’ve noticed that everyone seems to be bragging about the stuff that they have made a second use for and there’s quite a few things that I can tell you about myself.
Me and my friend Janaya wanted blow some bubbles. But our bubble bottles were empty! My Mom said she’s not going to keep buying more and more bottles of bubbles when we can keep our old bottles and just refill them.
I just helped my King do a quick fix by manufacturing a washer out of a piece of plastic milk jugs. Will it last forever? Probably not, but it will patch things up until he makes his next trip to the hardware store anyway.
